The Captain Stannard Bed and Breakfast Country Inn is unique. Our elegant country home comfortably hosts singles, couples and groups for business and pleasure. We specialize in personal service and homemade breakfast, included in our room rates.

Located one block from Long Island Sound in the village of Westbrook the Captain Stannard House is convenient for getaway weekends, boating and visiting at the Westbrook marinas. Dining, theater, antiquing, beach going, biking, outlet shopping, casinos, Mystic Seaport and a host of other attractions and activities are all available nearby.

The amenities available to all guests include:

• Our brand new 12' x 80' South Porch with a nine-foot ceiling and four cooling fans. It holds a huge picnic table, and a smaller teak arrangement of a table, 4 chairs and glider. This is a perfect area for cards, the morning paper, or evening snacks. It is particularly lovely in the spring, summer, and fall.
  
  
• A 40' x 80' indoor Social Space that allows our guests to find a private area or to socialize among a large group without worrying about the weather or needing to go anywhere else. The space is two converted barns with high ceilings and lots of old New England charm. These were brought onto the estate in the 1930s and initially used as the town dance hall. Although there are many antiques scattered throughout the facilities, we do not restrict use of any of the amenities.
  
  
• The Dining Room has a stone fireplace, a baby grand piano, and nine tables providing very comfortable seating for up to 35 people. This is a grand and welcoming room with the large stone hearth lending its ambiance year round but is particularly inviting in the cooler months. The piano is available for you to 'tickle the ivories' or have a pianist for your special occasions.
  
  
• The Lounge and Office has high speed Internet connection, TV, a library, and a full size guest refrigerator if you want to store food and drinks. We even store wedding cake tops until the brides and grooms return from their honeymoon. Seating for 12 is available on comfortable couches.
  
  
• The Great Room has a ceiling high stone fireplace, two love seats and six comfy upholstered chairs perfect for conversation or just reading by the hearth, a regulation-size pool table, a game cabinet and a bar & mini-refrigerator. Guests are welcome to use the pool table (cues provided), the game cabinet is complete with word, board and card games. The mini-refrigerator is kept stocked with water, soda and beer to be accessed at your convenience and the bar has glasses, napkins and fresh cookies. Guests are welcome to bring a bottle of wine and use the bar for service. If so desired, we can include a bottle of our award winning Private Reserve wine in each room, for a fee.
  
  
• The Ship's Room is a smaller sitting room with another TV, a really comfy glider couch and two wicker rocking chairs. It has French doors that close it off from the Great Room for a little more quiet.
  
  
• The Dressing room, upstairs, is perfect for getting ready for special occasions with a full-length mirror, vanity and cushy armchair.
  
  
• The rooms are refreshed daily and kept stocked with a bottle of Perrier and some nice snacks - on the house. Each room is individually decorated and has a private bathroom, with complimentary soap, shampoo and toothpaste. The towels are also refreshed daily.
  
  
• The candlelit breakfast is a four course gourmet meal of juice and fresh fruit, freshly baked bread/cake, homemade cereal, and a full egg-based entrée. Early coffee is served at the bar in the Great Room, followed by fully served breakfast at 8:00 A.M., Monday through Friday, and 9:00 AM, Saturday and Sunday.
