Middlesex United Way Middlesex United Way is dedicated to strengthening lives, helping people, and improving community conditions in the fifteen towns of Middlesex County. We support community programs and initiatives that help those in need and also prevent problems from happening in the first place. United Way believes that everyone should have the opportunities for a good life, and that the building blocks for that life are education, income, health and housing. Our goals and work in the community are centered around these key areas, our four pillars of advancement. You need a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family now and into retirement, good health and a safe, decent and affordable place to live. United Way is currently funding three projects in Old Saybrook including Healthy Community-Healthy Youth substance abuse prevention initiative, an early mental health inititiative for children birth to five years old and H.O.P.E.
